Service details

Client Backup Server

FPT Cloud provides a backup server configured and deployed on an on-premise system running virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V. The backup server is managed and operated remotely by FPT Cloud administrators.

FPT Cloud provides the following:

  • Server monitoring — availability, performance, and status.
  • Remote device administration.
  • System, operating system, and backup tool maintenance.

BaaS Portal

FPT Cloud provides access to the BaaS service web portal. The portal offers the following capabilities:

  • Monitor and view protected servers and systems.
  • Monitor the progress, history, and status of backup jobs.
  • View detailed server information such as backup size, schedule, and recovery points.
  • Proactively restore data.
  • Receive notifications on backup job progress and resource connection status via email.

Definitions

  • Agent: Software installed on the system that performs data protection operations for physical and virtual devices.
  • VBR server: Communicates with all servers in the system and coordinates activities such as protection, recovery, administrative operations, backup job management, and progress event management.
  • Data Compression: A data-saving solution that reduces storage capacity.
  • Data Encryption: A data security solution.
  • Data Replication: Copies data as replicas of servers in the user's system. These replicas can be accessed immediately for fast recovery and used to create multiple recovery points without affecting server performance.
  • Disaster Recovery: Planning or implementing a strategy to respond to failures such as total infrastructure loss or severe faults.
  • Backup copy: A version of the same backup file that is copied to a storage repository for long-term retention. Storage repositories can be located within the source system or deployed externally. The backup file has the same format as the primary backup file, so necessary data can be restored directly in the event of an incident.
  • Retention Period: The period during which a specific backup data set does not exceed its retention criteria. When the retention period expires and the data becomes outdated, it will no longer be available for recovery.
  • Retention Points: The number of consecutive successful jobs stored.
  • RPO: Restore Point Objective. The recovery point defined by the backup schedule.
  • RTO: Restore Time Objective. The recovery time defined by the method and amount of data being restored.
